Academy (U9-U10)

7v7 Academy (U9–U10)

The primary goal of our Academy Program is to create a fun, positive, and challenging environment where young players develop a true love for the game while learning the fundamental building blocks of soccer.

Our main priority is developing players the right way—with a strong emphasis on ball mastery, confidence on the ball, and game awareness. Every session is designed to encourage creativity, curiosity, and enjoyment while laying the foundation for long-term success.

Our Coaches

Our coaches bring passion, experience, and professionalism to every training session. They hold accredited coaching certifications, and nearly all of our head coaches—on both the girls’ and boys’ sides—have competed at the collegiate or professional level.

Most importantly, our coaches understand how to teach, motivate, and inspire players at these critical developmental ages.

Our Teaching Philosophy

Our Academy follows a long-term player development model focused on four essential areas:

Technical Development

Technique is the ability to properly control, pass, receive, and strike the ball. Skill is executing those techniques under game pressure.

We prioritize quality repetition over quantity, helping players become:

  • Comfortable on the ball
  • Confident in 1v1 situations
  • Creative and decisive in games

Psychological Development

We aim to develop players who:

  • Compete with confidence
  • Handle pressure positively
  • Work within a team environment

Players learn to win with humility, lose with dignity, and embrace challenges—building confidence both on and off the field.

Tactical Development

At the U9–U10 level, players are gradually introduced to the tactical side of the game, including:

  • Movement with and without the ball
  • Understanding the club’s playing style
  • Basic team shape, positioning, and unit movement

Learning why and where to move helps players think the game, not just play it.

Physical Development

Training focuses on age-appropriate athletic development:

  • Coordination
  • Speed and agility
  • Balance and body control

This prepares players to become stronger, more durable, and more confident athletes.

Program Format

Training Locations

Practices are held at Lake Zorinsky and the Skutt High School Complex.

Competition

Teams compete primarily against other club programs throughout Nebraska, including in-state tournaments. Select out-of-town events may include tournaments in South Dakota, Iowa, and Kansas.
